Frequently asked questions
How does a whole-home renovation get started?
It starts with a free estimate and a walkthrough of your home. We look at the rooms and systems involved, talk through your priorities and budget, and provide a written estimate for the work. For larger projects, that conversation also covers how the renovation could be sequenced so the plan is realistic from day one.
How long does a whole-home renovation take?
Whole-home renovations vary more than any other project we do, because the scope can range from several rooms of finishes to structural changes and new mechanical systems. Most multi-room renovations run a few months once construction begins. Before work starts, we lay out a schedule based on your specific scope so you can plan with realistic expectations.
Can we live in the house during a whole-home renovation?
Sometimes, if the work can be phased so part of the home stays livable. For extensive renovations, many families choose to move out for at least part of the project, which lets the work move faster and keeps daily life simpler. We talk honestly about both options during the estimate so you can decide what fits your family.
Can a whole-home renovation be done in phases?
Yes. Many homeowners renovate in stages, for example the main living areas first and bedrooms or the lower level later. Phasing can spread out both the cost and the disruption. During the estimate we can talk through a sequence that makes sense for your home and your priorities.
Do whole-home renovations need permits?
Typically, yes, and often more than one. Structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical changes each have permit and inspection requirements. We coordinate the permit process as part of managing the renovation, so each stage of work is inspected and done to code.
Who manages a project this size?
Ashor Construction is a family-owned company run by Edward Ashor, who has more than 20 years of experience, with his sons Anthony and Nick. On a whole-home renovation, coordinating the trades and the sequence of work is the job, and that is what we manage for you. We are licensed and insured, and clear communication is how we keep a large project from feeling chaotic.
